Paua Reserve
One place for fleets to book charging away from base, across several charging networks.
The problem
An electric truck that needs to charge away from base needs to know the charger will be free when it arrives. Today operators phone ahead or plan around the risk. That works for a handful of trucks and sites and falls apart at scale, and when it goes wrong the cost is a failed delivery or a recovered vehicle.
What's being tested
Paua already handle charging access and payment for commercial fleets across around 60 charge point operators. Paua Reserve adds booking: one place for a fleet to reserve, change and cancel charging across several networks' own booking systems. Networks offering to support the trial include VEV, Fuuse and Mer.
Freight operators use it on live work, booking charging in their own operating areas. Design and integrations through the autumn, the booking system built over winter, then live booking on real operations from the new year, with iteration through to March 2027.
How we'll know
How many bookings succeed on each network, and how many booked sessions are completed as planned. Whether operators can change bookings easily as plans move. Fewer failed deliveries and vehicle recoveries against previous months. Whether electric runs come in cheaper than diesel equivalents. And which approach to reservation timing and fees works for fleets and networks alike.
Why it matters
Certainty of charging away from base is one of the quieter blockers on longer electric freight routes. A booking layer that works across networks takes the phone calls out of it.
