12 Pillars of Change: Defining the Road Zero - Session 3

Contributors

The third and final 12 Pillars of Change session brings together fleet operators, OEMs, energy providers, policymakers, and academics to tackle the toughest question yet — how do we actually make the transition work?

If Session 1 looked at where we are, and Session 2 explored what 2040 might look like, this one dives into the messy middle: costs, standards, timelines, and the reality of operating in a world that’s still running on diesel economics.

From financing and residual values to grid reform and standardisation, this was the most pragmatic conversation yet — and arguably the most urgent.

What We Cover
• How to make electrification financially viable and competitive with diesel
• The evolving role of the fleet manager in a digital, zero-emission world
• MCS vs CCS — future-proofing infrastructure without over-specifying it
• The growing tension between market forces and government mandates
• The “too much vs too little” charging debate and the utilisation paradox
• Forgotten deadlines, stranded assets, and the policy coordination problem
• The fleet manager’s impossible job — and why education is the real enabler
